Research projects

My research objectives are to give machines the capacity to see and especially to learn by examples.

Towards this goal, I mainly focus on Machine Learning techniques like Convolutional Neural Networks (part of the lately renamed Deep Learning scheme).

Hereafter are presented some highlights on several research projects I have been active in.

Robust Face Alignment Using Convolutional Neural Networks. S. Duffner, C. Garcia. In International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications (VISAPP 2008), Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. pp. 30-37, 2008

Z. Saïdane, C. Garcia, Orange Labs, 2007

Robust Binarization for Video Text Recognition. Z. Saïdane, C. Garcia. In International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR 2007), Curitiba, Brazil. pp. 874-879. ISBN 978-0-7695-2822-9. ISSN 1520-5363, 2007.

G. Lefebvre, C. Garcia, Orange Labs & LIRIS, 2013

Learning a Bag of Features based Nonlinear Metric for Facial Similarity. G. Lefebvre, C. Garcia. In 10-th International Conference on Advanced Video and Signal-Based Surveillance , Krakow, Poland. pp. 238-243, 2013.
